Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim || Not Quite the Mother of Dragons

It’s been 84 6 years since I last played this game. I had forgotten how effin’ long it is.

Whew. That only took *checks time played* 162 hours, and I didn’t even finish the main storyline at this point. Well, I sort of did. Playing it on the PS3 is a massive bitch, let me tell you. It freezes and it crashes and it’s a freaking mess, and I really wish I had a PC to play it on instead.

Alas …

Review

Graphics: ★★★★★

Beautiful game for the time, and I’ve seen screenshots of the game from PCs where they have lighting mods and upped graphics and hnngh. It’s so pretty. I love it.

Music: ★★★★★

Music’s some hardcore nostalgia for me. The game might make me mad sometimes, but the music is really freaking good.

Gameplay: ★★☆☆☆

Since we’re going on PS3 for this (I have played the PC version, back when I owned a decent PC), it’s … so. Goddamn. BUGGY. SO BUGGY. I mean, it’s pretty hilarious most of the time, but, like. It can be a massive hindrance at other times and really get frustrating.

And the PS3 can barely handle the game! I went ahead and looked it up, thinking maybe I had something set wrong, but nope. It’s just a thing that happens. And it SUCKS.

For the record, though, did have some great and funny bugs. Here’s one I had a few weeks ago:

Excuse the shaky footage, I was on the phone with my friend when it happened and was laughing too hard to hold it still. Don’t ask me what all those guards were doing there.

Storyline: ★★★☆☆

I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the main storyline in this one. I like the whole UR A DRAGONBORN, BUDDO thing and slaying dragons and stuff, but. Like. At times it felt kind of weak and pushed along just so you keep playing? I don’t know. Some of the side quests had better stories than the main quest. Not my favorite of the Elder Scrolls, but eh. It was entertaining anyway.

Overall: ★★★★☆

Bugs killed me, constant freezing nearly sent me on a murderous rampage, but, all in all, I still really enjoy playing the game. Elder Scrolls is a great series, and all this does is make me want to go back and replay the older ones (Oblivion and Morrowind, especially) that I haven’t played in forever.
